Overcast October Afternoon

after, about 6.5x9 pastel and watercolor on Uart paper
before
It was glove weather at the river. Overcast, as we await tomorrow's storm. I painted/struggled through the "before" at the river. Unsatisfied with my work I took it to the studio and made some changes. Better? I don't know. Overcast skies are the hardest to paint.

Your work is so dazzling I barely know how to comment. I visit often and wanted to let you know that the honesty of your seeing, whether with eyes closed or open, is an inspiration.

Here in the southwest, glove weather means cleaning out the cactus patch...but, I think you describe a different experience!

Thank you so much Melinda. Your kind comments are perfectly timed. It is a time when I am feeling so clumsy. some days/weeks are like that I guess:-)
Thanks again,
Loriann

It gets better in the second version because you separated the space even more (pushed the background back and pulled the foreground forward)!

You're right Karen. What is doesn't always work...so try try again. This one could even use another try. Thanks for your comment! Loriann
