(quote from the children's book Twilight Comes Twice) This is the other side of twilight, the late afternoon, moments before darkness approaches, when the last beams of light slide through.
It was warm and spring like and I am beginning to wish winter might just GO away. The only problem is my hands came out of my pockets too much. The result...too many strokes!

I thought this painting's title was going to refer to this almost-spring time of year when the sap rises in the trees and they start to get those beautiful reddish tones. I like your poetic quote too! Beautiful painting!

I think that when an artist struggles with a painting the struggle will definitely effects her/his "vision" of it.

One of your best! To me, the number of strokes has little to do with quality- just that fewer strokes means faster painting. So what? I greatly admire your dedication. You must be a great teacher!

As to the idea of the number of strokes .... I have been working hard not to "tickle it to death" and instead consider more carefully and say more with less. In addition I really want to try to leave more watercolor showing. Ahhhh, the curve of learning and change.
