Flushed Crimson

8 x8.5 pastel and frozen watercolor on Uart paper $100.
The light key was first established in frozen watercolor. At 19 degrees I had to work fast. Next, what is most important to the feel of the place? Answer: silvery blue contrasted to the orange/crimson colored light.
Back in the studio......Now let me see if I can use the light of this study and return to my river paintings of the last two days. It's exciting to wonder what will happen.

Boy you got this one done early. Beautiful intense colors! And what great clarity!

There's something to be said for working quickly like that...a great complement to the slower paced ones we mull over a lot more.
Look at that sliver of light on that back hill!!

Thanks Brian and Karen,
Sunrise is now earlier, yay Spring! I can't wait till the temperatures catch up! Thanks for your comments. You are right about working quickly. It's a good exercise.
Cheers my painting buddies!

Love those saturated crimsons, and the sky too. 19 degrees? Oy. We've been in the 60s here!

Fast is good - its more intuitive. Love the textured looking areas.

Jala, That's right 19 degrees...but today will be 60 by noon! Go figure. Love that crazy spring like weather. Crocuses and snowdrops fill lawns with anticipation of more. I have noticed that colder mornings can bring exciting colors so I never want to miss them.

Kathleen you are certainly right about fast being more intuitive. Respond by feeling, not thinking. Ahhhhhhh.
