8 x8.5 pastel and watercolor on marble dust board $100.Last night, when crossing the American Legion Bridge, a marvelous sunset display happened. Unfortunately I was driving. Fortunately, I decided to play the memory game. Remember that light. Today I tried to recreate it.

Wonderful, rich color Loriann - this is really beautiful. Your memory served you well. I always see the best subjects when driving - usually in places where stopping would be insanely hazardous.

Quite the visual memory you've developed! This is a relly nice piece again making me think our river here. Regarding your post yesterday I think the underpainting is as strong as the finished work. Not to take away from the final one but I'm saying how strong the underpainting is. It seems with your prework focus you nailed the subject in its minimalist form. That reflection of the sky on the water is stellar!
Brian, You're right about driving. Don't you wish you could just float that car right there? My particular hazard is bridges I love bridges! Oh, the things I can see from atop a bridge!!!How about you?

Thanks Brian E, my memory for color is supported by constant practice. I find it gets easier if my chops are sharp (constant practice). I guess it's no different than a musician. You know about that, sharpie that you are. That golden NYC scene was awesome.
Thanks also about yesterday's painting. I scolded myself about painting with watercolors too much...after all it is a pastel...right? (Or does it matter?) The nice thing about watercolors is I can paint with gloves on! :-)
And speaking of Inness... look at this Inness-like glow!

Loriann - I stopped by for a quick visit yesterday and back again today - I love pastels but never was able to learn how to work with them. I did study your oils - I can learn a lot from you in regards to your texture and brush (knife) work - I need to learn to be more generous with my paint...I need to learn a lot of things...
