Light around the Corner

11 x14 pastel on watercolor-Uart paper

The Potomac River is so full it's overflowing. The gorge at Great Falls is remarkably different. Usually big rocks are present in the water and at times you can even wade across. Now it is rushing with water and the young trees on the side are submerged. I love the way the sun peeks around the corner and touches the land selectively.
Boy..I just saw how this looks on the blog and honest it looks better in person.:-)

Wonderful light flow!
Sorry for the loss of your neighbor.
Our art community lost an artist last week. It made me think - when an artist dies, besides the personality, you loose the potential of creativity from that individual...

Love the shadow going across the valley below. It just draws the viewer in. Another intriguing painting!

Thanks Jill. I guess a loss is an awful thing no matter what. Time is the only answer I know.

Thank you too Janelle. How is your glazing going?

I'm still at it. I had to chuckle when I read about being a glutton for punishment. That's exactly how I feel, but I guess we're determined!
