9x12 pastel on watercolor, Uart paper
Fog is so exciting. One important thing to keep in mind is that because fog reduces the values to a very small range one must be VERY attentive to temperature. The play back and forth is what makes the painting.
Click on this one...I left the jpeg bigger than usual so that you can see the temperature play. :-)

Loriann, I am tempted to say that the painting is too foggy to make out the temperatures, but I will not say that. It was wonderfully foggy in NJ too. Unfortunately, I couldn't get out in it, but did see that for a while the fog had a beautiful light as the sun was coming up.

That closeup is so nice. I love the really vivid blues peeking through the neutrals in the back part.
On a relatively unrelated note, do you know the book (collection of paintings by various artists) Like Breath on Glass? Got it from the library recently. Some beautiful things in there from Inness, Twachtman, Whistler...
Bob, Do you really think it's too foggy to make out the temperature? It's so hard to know when you live it.
Jala,
Thanks and yes I know that book. I recently bought it from Amazon knowing it was one I would want to own...yet still I haven't opened it. We'll have to compare notes! I hope that you are feeling better.
Lovely as always...
Wish you lived nearer.... Our art club has a few pastelists and when we invite demonstrators we like to have a mix of media and styles... That way... everyone is happy and we can all better appreciate one another's work.
Our club would so enjoy seeing how you do your work.
We could learn so much!!
How kind of you Marian! If I were closer by I would be happy to visit. Thanks!
I did click on it. cool!
This one feels like the layering of the temperatures is left to be obvious, which I love, because I'm drawn into that abstraction. I don't have trouble seeing them.
Thanks Karen!!!!!
Thanks also for your help last night with selection!!!!!
It is my great pleasure to offer my humble opinion, and I so THRILLED at the outcome! Tell us more in future posts!
