Interlocking Points

9 x9 pastel on watercolor
This rainy morning I headed out to Brighton Dam when it was still dark. The dam has a small azalea park and beautiful water scenes. the weather was perfect: I love it best when the values are close (overcast skies and fog.) Of course it wasn't the azaleas that drew my attention, instead it was the water. After completing this one I pushed myself to turn down the path and try the flowers too. Of course I am not satisfied with that one. But this one, I like. There is something about water that I love and distance.

I did an audible gasp when I saw this one. Maybe you heard me up here in Frederick. Truly beautiful in so many ways, Loriann. I have to look at it again.

I'm in agreement with Donna. This is very successful. I love how strong this is graphically and in composition.

I think you're doing really great work. I hope you'll be kind to yourself.

Thanks so much Donna and Melinda. Lately I have been really struggling. Your kind words come at good time. Back to work! :-)

Really love that reddish-colored bank (is that what's it called?) thingie jutting out from the right.

The graying down in this one works SO well, and I think is helped even more by that warm brownish edge of the bank/shore. Keep doing this so you can keep reminding me how to do it. :)
