Work in Progress:Oh Shenandoah

28x42 pastel and oil on marble dust board
This one has been in the works for more than a year. It has gone through a few metamorphoses and will probably go through more. I wonder if it is too still for a big piece...does it need some notation of life? Still working...
Now it has stopped raining so I am out to the field for some plein air.

Working on it for more than a year? I wish I was that patient.

I really like the atmosphere of it (and of all your paintings actually)

Hi Dick, i wouldn't ever describe myself as patient..as perseverant or tenacious yes. Can you believe it's not done yet??? Always learning.....

Thanks about the atmosphere and welcome to my blog!!!!!! Hope to see you round!

It's great to see your big work! Wonderful color and space. It needs nothing more.

Not too still for me, Loriann - the rich color fills it with life to my eyes.

Hi Jala, Thanks!

Gary, hi!! Thanks...what do you think about removing the middle distance mountains?

Thanks for your vote of confidence Brian. The color is really intense in the foreground. I still want that Hudson River School type glow in the distance. Hmmmmmm.
