memory extended

8x8 pastel on watercolor
The field now lives in my head, just like the reservoir once did (and will again.) So this morning after working en plein air, I decide to try to loosen up more with color and just play. Let's call this one memory extended. I think I will do more of these and see where it will take me:-)

I love this...it shimmers and pulses with light and has really amazing form too...not an easy combination!

Oh, yes, please do! I agree with Karen about the shimmery quality. The sky, the light is very active.

I love your "memory extended" work.

Hi Karen and Melinda,
I do realize as a painting this is not complete. But as an exploration, it showed me a little piece of what is possible and not possible....what I could get away with. I also know it needs more neutral areas...less zing ;-) L

Hey there,

I'm not sure, but it looks done to me. That last little bit of golden light tickling the tops of the closer trees.
Also amazing depth perception, it seems to fall back layer by layer. Question, why do you think it needs more neutral areas? I know you won't leave it alone, but it sure looks beautiful just the way it is.
Awful nice Buddette.

Loriann I love starting my day with looking at your blog. I just always know I'm going to see something power, beautiful, and full of that special art magic. Your little painting, which comes across BIG, just pulses with life.

I don't even have words to describe the effect this one has on me. Is there any way you can loosen up my memory too? I might need more than one session.

Beautiful work, Loriann, the colors here really sing and there's such rich vibrancy. Although I'm a huge fan of neutrals, I'm not missing them in this painting.

Hi Buddy, First thank you...but I think I added too much zing...which is my tendency and I worry that it would be exhausting to look at.Too much fighting for attention.."look at me.."look at me!" that kind of clamoring going on in the painting. What do you think?

Hi Susan!
I am delighted to know you love to start your day that way. I always enjoy ending my day with your blog...funny how that works. thank you about the pulsing!

Hi Donna...how are you my painting/blogger friend? My memory has a mind of its own. i am guessing everyone's does once you set it free. So just go for it hon.

Hi Brian, It's a relief to hear that you don't think it needs more neutrals since you always use such gorgeous neutrals. Thanks!

Buddette, A zing tendency, um, I'm struggling with this one. Course I like zing. I Wouldn't want a painting to say "I'm shy and bashful, please don't look at me". In retrospect you will do the right thing based on your extensive knowledge and creativity. Heck who am I, you're the award winner. Go for it girl.
