let it snow!!!!!!

both are 5x11 pastel and watercolor on Uart

They said it would snow later this morning I had no idea it would begin when I was out at the lake...lucky me!
The top one was painted as the snow mixed with rain. By the time I painted the second the snow was so heavy it was like the landscape was wearing a thick, fuzzy veil.
Again, at the risk at sounding redundant, it's all about value. It's truly amazing how many color are present in the white of the snow.

Hi Buddette,

Nice transition from rain and snow and heavy snow.
The colors are great, especially in the heavy snow version. You're a brave soul to be out there in the rain and snow.

Excellent! The snow in the second painting is exquisite. Both are fantastic.

You're very, very brave...enjoy, but stay warm!

Hi Loriann,

Great stuff. I like how the snow veil look seems a bit Turner-esque.

Question for you, if you don't mind (I just asked Casey too): how on earth does one ship an unframed, unmatted, unfixed pastel? Need advice....Thanks!

Hi PB, It was so beautiful out there. The first snow always is, don't you think? b

Hi Melinda,
Thanks about the snow painting. A nice soy chai after painting always helps the warm part;-)

Hey Jala,
Turner-esque, eh? Cool.

As far as shipping....when it is unframed it is the easiest. I usually cover the taped down or mounted painting with glassine and then cover it again with another piece of gatorboard and tape the two pieces together like a taped sandwich. You can ship it inside a bubble wrap envelope.
Congrats on your sale1

Shame on me for not being here on the 4th to wish you HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope you had a wonderful day!
And I love the snow painting! I must admit I peeked out my curtains and stayed inside when it came through here. :)

Hi Jala, You are welcome. That's funny I never would have known. It works, that's what counts!

These have a great feel to them, Loriann. The first feels very still - a light drizzle on a heavily overcast and cold day - and the second feels like a whirling snow squall. I agree with Jala - very Turner-esque.

Hi Brian, To be out there en plein air makes a real feel of the place "a la Turner." The second one was done inside the car. The snow was blowing everywhere! Plein air always inspires me.
