10x12pastel on BFK
This morning was warmer. The temperature was about 30, vs. the lower teens and twenties of past plein air sessions. It felt almost balmy. You can see the beginnings of hopeful spring on the trees.... the warmth of bud beginnings. YEAH!!!!
My thoughts, refraction and color harmony, the triad of secondaries. Green played a minor role (that will change in time!) Snow really is quite beautiful...the way it picks up the violets. mmmmmm.

Yes, I can sense spring in this painting! I like that slice of light at the base of the trees. And touch of green in the sky and river. There is hope!
Ahhhh. Beautiful, and this is a favorite, now. It gives me hope, too.
It has a fine balance of abstraction and place - I sensed the "place" immediately, but on closer inspection, the abstract qualities are solidly there.
now that's what i'm talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice one b.

So glad to see the hopeful streak of light. It's nice to see harmony is possible after waging your recent yellow battle.
This is a beautiful color harmony and I like it's composition very much.
Hi Janelle, Yep, Spring is in the air, even with the ground covered in snow. Hope is here!
Hi Casey,
Thank you...a favorite to you gives it a lot of points. It's one of those that just flowed...helped that I was warmer.
Hi PB,
Finally, eh? Here's to a good night's sleep. Thanks-b
Hi Sam.. that yellow battle was really getting the best of me... still, I am waging war on it....but I take breaks and paint plein air for enjoyment.
Thanks Astrid!
Something about hints of spring and sap rising and you've captured it here. I love the feeling when formerly dead-looking limbs start to vibrate with the leaves that will soon emerge! Happy warming up days!
Hi Katherine, Thank you.
That anticipation of Spring is wonderful;painting it is just as exciting. Don't you think?
I've been away for a few days and am just catching up with your work, Loriann. This one took my breath away! I wish I were a judge at a big show - this one would get the top award from me! It is absolutely outstanding!!!
Hi Donna and thank you very much!
Lovely violet hued snow!
Thanks Diane!
Mmmm, lovely color Loriann and so beautifully composed - this is a recent favorite for me.
