Sunset after the Storm/ Dog Walkers at Sunset

8x10 pastel on BFK (above)                                                             10x12 pastel on BFK

To create these I have been relying on memory quite a bit. I like the sunset after the storm because of it vibrating colors. My husband liked the dog walkers. You decide.
We are now preparing for another 5-10 inches and possible power outages Time to walk to Safeway for batteries and food. Till later....

I love the first one because it looks very modern.
Stay safe in the snowpocalypse (that's hard to pronounce).

It is hard to decide which one I like best. I like the first one because of the warm/cool colors and because of what it symbolizes. But I think I like the dog walkers best because it looks romantic! Sending positive thoughts and snow angels your way!

The complimentary colors really work for me in the first piece. But I have to admit the second painting looks very illustrative, I think there is a story to be heard while looking at this one.

Hi Jala, Janelle and Marianne,

I think we are in agreement. I like the frosty, yet complementary colors in the first one. And no I am really not an illustrator... especially not a good one.

They now say we will receive 10-20 more inches of snow, starting tomorrow afternoon. This storm will have high winds so we are trying to prepare and find better ways to deal with loss of power (and heat). Looks like we will be working with the bottom level of Maslow's triangle..again.
Cheers friends!

They are so different it's hard to choose one over the other. I like them both!
Can't believe you guys are getting more snow. Do they sell firewood at Safeway these days? Stay warm. I do hope you're right about some of that white stuff heading our way.

Hi Leah!!! We are fortunate that we bought a 1/4 cord of wood before this winter started. Years past that would last 2 years...not this time! I'll blow really hard so it heads up your way. Many of my neighbors still have no power!!!! YIPES!

I'm really diggin' the first one. I also feel it's very contemporary. Strong piece. Yep,looks like we're gonna' be diggin snow again. Another foot predicted here on top of the 20 somethimg inches from Saturday. We were due here but you guys are getting slammed like never before. Hope you don't lose power!

Brian, so we agree..that one just felt better. Sounds like we are in similar boats. We have 25 inches and am in shock to think 10-20 more..that WILL be historical. The government just closed again! Crazy..that doesn't happen. Stay warm..good luck!

Both of these really capture the look and feel of all of this snow. In my attempts to paint it I like how the big masses of snow eliminate all the distracting details! Good luck with the Safeway - ours was out of just about everything yesterday. It was creepy to see all those empty shelves! Lets keep our fingers crossed that the power stays on!

Hi Donna! Thanks about the paintings.
A snow update:Here both Safeway and Giant' aisles are on the empty side. The neighbors are pooling their resources. Just a half hour ago the plow actually came through. Everyone came out of their houses and cheered! You are so right heat and light tops my needs list. I don't know how people did it long ago when they lived without these conveniences. Good luck!

Now you can harken back to the primitive new world. Pull up both pairs of sox and hunker down.

I like the 1st, but would also like the 2nd w/out people.
