8x8 pastel on BFK
Today's challenge was to drive only 5 minutes and stop- make a painting. What I chose was Candy Cane Park. The geese were enjoying the field and its giant puddle. Color harmony was my main goal.
Wow Loriann, you are on a roll! Yesterday's nocturne takes my breath away. How can such a simple composition have such a huge impact? Today's spring colors are so soothing; you definitely achieved your goal of color harmony!

Hi Sam! The bare ground you see is the layer of color I put as an underpainting. The part you see is a light burnt sienna. Thanks for noticing it...my goal was unity.
Hi Loriann. Your works really are so beautiful. The colours are really nice and create great tranquility and atmosphere too. The nocturnes are very striking in the long portrait format. The sprint time country seen is very pretty.
Hi Loriann, I have enjoyed the quiet beauty of your past few postings. They go beyond the descriptive to the spiritual. This painting has a quiet sense to it-as if one were standing on the verge of the change from winter to spring. There is a feeling of Dwight Tyron when I view this painting. Somehow you combine a mood associated with Tonalism yet use colors assocaited with Impressionism. It is interesting that you posted this particular painting today. Available in my area is a cable station, Create TV. They have been showing David Dunlop's Landscapes Through Time. Todays episode featured Turner. It is interesting to note that you are going beyond the descriptive to record your feelings and emotions. I could follow your artistic lineage back to Turner through the Romantics to now.
