florida fog

6x6 pastel on BFK
Yesterday morning was thrilling...fog!!!!!  The air was so moist that my paper actually buckled.  I am waiting for the sun to rise so I can go back to the little pool of water!

These are truely amazing. I love to paint fog. You've really caught it's magic. These 6x6 have such strength they feel huge.

You're crazy to get up so early and blog!! But glad you did so we can see what you're doing down there.
I agree about how much adjustment takes place when we go to a new area...it's like having to reconfigure all the stuff we know.
Love the fog, and thanks for the tidbits!

Thank you Susan! I, too, absolutely LOVE fog. The way the water particles diffuse the color is wonderful.

Hi Karen! I am an early bird at home or away... so this is not hard.
When you and Susan went to Sedona I am sure you struggled with the same thing...even though I can't see any traces of it in either of your paintings. It's always good to stretch.
And you are welcome!

These are lovely in the way they portray that mysterious sense of something just beyond sight in the fog. We never have fog here, and I kind of miss it.

I like the way you provide a texture to fog. Sublime.

We all envy your weather conditions, but it couldn't happen to a better person at a better time. If only fat snowflakes could diffuse in to fog.

Is there a pastel stick labelled 'fog'?

Lovely fog paintings! I've been painting fog lately too - one of my new favorite subjects.

These are simply stunning, they remind me of a Turner painting with the light shining out of the mist.

Hi Don,
I agree with you fog is awesome. I can see why you miss it. And thank you!

Hi Casey,
That's funny you noticed the slight texture. Good eyes!

Hi Lisa, Thank you. I will have to check out your fog as well.

Hi Caroline, Thank you about my paintings...Turner?!? wow!

Hi Sam!
Thank you. This winter was a tough one. I am relishing the warmer temperatures. I hope that Boulder finally finds its way to Spring and stays there.
As for a fog pastel stick...hmmmm.

Loriann,
fantastic. I looooove them. My fave is the one on the right, that soft pink....so lovely.

When I was in India, my PastelMat paper buckled, even in the large sheets. And also the glassine that was with it. The glassine buckled so much it became unusable--had too many little sort of stiffened waves that were damaging the surface of the finished pastels.

Jala,
Thank you!!! The buckling takes some getting used to... I kept re-stretching and re-taping. I can't believe PastelMat even buckled!! Thanks for checking in.

Hi Loriann,
Ethereal paintings-a quiet palette. These paintings remind me of Monet's paintings of the Seine
shrouded in early morning fog
