The canal offers so many possibilities, of which I will never tire. I hope everyone else doesn't tire of them. This is one of yesterday's, the first one of the morning-5:30 am.
Today is framing day. Everything needs to be in by noon. Only two paintings can be submitted. This painting and the house on the hill may be my entries. I have so many others I will blog later.

Great painting, you do thrive on challenge after all:)
I'm confused, don't all the paintings have to be from the place in MD for the festival?
I love a yellow sky...
Thanks Nika, I think this may be one of my entrants. it's always so hard to decide.
Hi Sally, yes all the paintings need to be from Allegany County. The canal begins in Cumberland and continues for 184.5 miles to DC. I felt at home returning to it here....sort of like a homing pigeon. Thanks about the sky!
Lovely.
If I didn't know this was of water, I would have thought it was a road dappled in shadow and light.
Beautiful painting, Loriann, so soft and quiet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some awards for your work. (You should get an award for being out there painting at 5:30 AM!)
A fresh perspective and a beauty.
Hi Jala, that's funny, a road..... hmmmmm, i guess both lead in.
Hi Donna,
I don't feel I will get an award. The competition is really steep. I am just happy to be playing with the big dogs and not totally embarrassing myself. I might be the earliest bird out there though...i don't think there is an award for that. Thanks about the painting!
Hi Casey, The vertical makes it so different. I decided to name it peace within tension.
What a lovely fresh summery painting, the colours are so pretty and the light simply wonderful.
Thanks Caroline, summer is in the air and the humidity lets make wonderful light. How is it in Scotland?
