10x10 pastel and watercolor on Uart paper
Yesterday I posted a painting and wrote about edges. Today my goal was to improve on the concept. I felt that the idea of refraction led me astray and edges were not important enough. Today's edges work. Still the main concept is the beauty of light and refraction, but there is a focal point-right in the painting's sweet spot. Sharp edges and diffuse edges.

ReplyDeleteYes, the edges work, but I think in concert with focal points. Both work best with the other there. Yeah?
ReplyDeleteWith all the stuff in our air these last few days it's a wonder you can see any edges - everything gets softened so much. This is really beautiful, Loriann, and I can just feel the humidity that's making those trees so purply-blue. Nice contrast with the warm summer sky too!
ReplyDeletegreat painting!
ReplyDeleteHi Sam, yes. I am in agreement.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna,
All the stuff in the air traps the color and makes it even more beautiful. If you can stand the heat 104 today....it's quite wonderful...feels like a sauna.
Thank you about the painting!!!!
Hey Daddio!!! Thanks for spending so long to figure out the comment section!
Very pretty, reminds me of a Loriann/Wolf Khan style of painting. I can see those edges in the area you are speaking about, it really does take the eye to that area. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Caroline! It's funny I did another one today, same basic area and it felt so different. hmmmm.
