twilight, more new method explorations

about 8x9 pastel on somerset
After hearing Brian's comments from Monday I decided to try to incorporate more of the methods I use with the removed grisailles into my plein air. So here is a plein air done in my car as I sat by the side of the road (I guess that's en plein car). The sun was just a tiny bit below the horizon. Pencils, tissues and erasers helped make this effect.
Now for Jala- a request for more fluffernuttin photos:

Cute, eh? They are bigger already and it has only been 5 days!

Lovely work, Loriann! I especially like the gestural sense of your strokes here and the warm and cool color contrasts.

Love the puch of colour in this 'en plein car' (cue long and hard chuckle). The yellow really glows but is restrained from overwhelming the piece by the blue, a great balance. Good work!

The bits of light on the horizon and the three stars balance that towering evening sky nicely. But what will ever balance those big ears?

Thank you Brian...it's funny I had a hard time knowing what I was doing because I couldn't see my pastels...too dark. Another reason to keep them organized!

Hi Caroline! Thanks about my en plein car work...heehhee!

Hi Sam Thanks you about the painting...and yes isn't it amazing that she doesn't topple over with those ears!!!???!!!

I think she's complaining about her ears and wondering if she lets her hair grow longer, could she cover them up!

For an afternoon pick-me-up, go outside and walk for 5 minutes, then come back and drink a big glass of water. You'll feel refreshed and alert and you'll hardly miss the diet Coke.

Hi Kvan, The diet coke is usually with dinner, my replacement for wine..which I don't drink. The afternoon walk is an always event for me. Sounds like we think the same....except I don't really like water, but I will drink it with lemon so it has some pizazz.

What beauties! Thanks for the pics.
The best thing about having two kittens at once is that they keep each other occupied and expend great amounts of energy without us having to do anything...other than when we can't resist disturbing them with kisses when we find them asleep somewhere.
We're lucky in that Rumi is acting the part of kitten #2; he still acts very kittenish and has soooo much energy that he's (almost) able to keep up with Gadjo.
Enjoy!
Good job on the en pleine voiture piece.
