following the path and knowing the destination

oil on wood, 12x24
I have been working on this one for a while now. It's funny I know that glaring sunsets are not what the judges want in a competition and that they are frowned on in galleries for many reasons, but I can't resist sometimes. More than anything I wanted to work on the "glow" and experiment with what I can do.
Above are glazing tries I do to experiment before laying down any paint.

On another note,  I am simply wandering down my path, smelling the flowers and sometimes tripping over stones. I have a destination, yet I am not sure how to get there. You are on the trip with me (in a way.)
I hope you have been enjoying my recent "planning a painting" list and posts detailing each step. Please feel free to note your thoughts. I am certainly not the expert.
Tomorrow is  my favorite step- concept.

I am delighted to be on the journey with you and love reading your thoughts and seeing your work. The glow in this is fantastic. I have been in my garden studio today oil painting…. also trying to find my own path and going back to what I know and love my atmospheric seascapes. Think I’m turning a corner stone now..... and actually finding ways of using oil and glazes to create seascapes and landscapes reminiscent of my pastel paintings of a few years ago. I hadn’t realized how ‘lost’ I had become since leaving Key West three years ago (lol)…. Your ideas, paintings and sharing of your painting knowledge continues to inspire me, Loriann.

Yes, fantastic glow, Loriann! It's funny that you mentioned what judges and galleries like today. When you shared your list for planning a painting I was very happy to see that what judges, galleries, clients, and people in general like or will buy was NOT on the list!

Loriann,
When I looked at my Dashboard and saw this beauty, I just gasped! What glow you have going on here. So what if galleries don't like sunsets, yes they have been painted many times over, but it's the artist's ability to capture the glow that we all seek, and you have done just that. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and discoveries along the way...it's a journey for sure. Ciao for now!

Thanks Osvaldo! Glad you stopped by and visited my blog.

Hey PB, I wonder what is happening. I wonder if it is happening to others as well. Sorry, it must be SOOOO frustrating!

Hi Jane, Thank you about this painting! I am delighted that you found my blog and are on the journey with me. Aren't we all fascinated by other artist's processes?

Hi Maggie, I am glad that you are finding your way after your move from Key West. Changes in our lives definitely have a way for spurring on new development. Sometimes we just have to become surfers and ride the waves. Thanks for your kind words about my journey. Welcome aboard!

Hi Donna! You are so right we have to paint what thrills us or else it will thrill no one. I think I paint for the excitement of discovery...just like a 3 year old. Not very evolved am I!

Hi Debora and welcome to my blog. Thanks for taking the time to make a comment. Thank you too about this painting!

Hi my dusty fingered friend Brenda! Thanks so much!! You are right..so what! If it thrills me I am going to paint it! Thanks for your words of encouragement! tata!

Interesting about the judges, and yet I see so many sunsets/skies win awards. Love seeing all of the tries. Great path.
