spring colors

4x8 pastel on somerset paper
Spring colors in the early morning are soft, sort of whispery. It's so tempting to add more chroma, but that' s not really the feel of the land now. As the earth wakes up from its long slumber the apple trees are slivery in the shallow light. I was careful to avoid the temptations of all those beautiful  colors  and instead bring them down to  two basic hues. Enjoy the arrival of Spring!

Hi Loriann, you have captured the early morning spring colours very well. Spring is here in the highlands too, what a treat the sun is shining yet there are some interesting pastel pink clouds too.

Beautiful subtle color, Loriann, and very nicely composed! I'm hoping to get outdoors this weekend after nearly a month away from drawing. We bought a house recently and are too busy these days, but hopefully I will make more time for drawing and painting in the coming weeks. Spring is one of my favorite times to draw and your work is definitely inspiring me!

Lovely painting, Loriann, and much for me to think about, as always. Better to have a quiet diva than one who demands attention at the wrong time of day? Hey, I think we will have a few rare hours of sunshine today. I hope you're out in it!

Hi Caroline and thank you! I am glad to hear winter is finally over for you! Nice new photo on your thumbnail!

Hi Brian,
Congrats on your new home! Moving and settling in is a lot of work. I hope you are able to find a time opening to enjoy this Spring time weather. Spring is the most amazing time!

Hi Donna,
Thank you! Quiet divas are good. Tryon has many beautiful quiet divas that I love! Spring is my favorite. Hope you managed to find so time outdoors to paint.
