love affair

40x50 oil on wood

I have a new love affair. They call her Cobalt Violet. She follows me everywhere. She is in my dreams and waking hours whispering, "Here I am, you know you want to be with me." Like a siren. She convinced me to feature her in my latest painting. I thought I could leave her in the tube. I tried, but her singing made me do it.
This one is called Quietude. It's the name of my next show that opens in April. My publicity work is due and all I can do is dance with CV.

Isn't she the little minx! I have been seduced myself over the years... abandon yourself to her dance. This painting makes me feel like I can glide on the water and yet sink into the well of colour. Just wish I could see it in the real.

PS - Thank you for the thumbs up on my header painting. Happy New Year... best wishes.

Hi Loriann,
When I saw this painting my jaw dropped-absolutely
perfect! This painting has a great sense of place. So you are in love with CV? One of the many aspects of painting that a non artist may have trouble understanding is the sheer joy of falling in love with a certain color or colors. There are various yellows, oranges , greens, blues and violets that have become best friends of mine. An aspect of painting abstracts that has always appealed to me was the pleasure of color with no references to an object-color for the delight of color itself. Congratulations on your upcoming exhibition.

is that a wonderful painting OR WHAT? Did I read somewhere that Cobalt Violet is very expensive? Congratulations on your upcoming show :)

Hi Celeste and thank you about the painting! Cobalt violet is pricey. I was the fortunate recipient of a glorious tube of Vasari CV. A gift...but now I am addicted. It's a delicate transparent violet. The cost for a small tube is 83.75! I will treasure it!

Oh that CV, she is insistant but works wonders with her presence and she knows it.

Fabulous piece and those ochres are the perfect match. I'm in a gold/turguoise addiction right now, perhaps CV will pay a call soon.
