I decided to try a miniature of my lake needwood series. At a mere 5.75x4.75 the marks and rubbing were completely different. At this size the focus was on color harmony and edges.
I love everything about this pastel. It may be a mini but it feels big. I love the colours you chose, especially the violets. The way you shaded the top corners softens the whole thing, almost as though you rounded off the paper. And even though the painting is one of stillness, my eyes keep moving over and over it to take it all in, giving it a sense of movement. For me this is a most provocative and enjoyable painting.

Nice one, Loriann! The minis I do are 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 - micro minis, I guess :-) Sometimes I use them as glorified thumbnails before doing larger versions.
