be brave like vincent van Gogh, Picasso and David Bowie

pastel 30x40 on wood unfinished
"If one wants to be active, one mustn’t be afraid to do something wrong sometimes, not afraid to lapse into some mistakes. To be good — many people think that they’ll achieve it by doing no harm — and that’s a lie… That leads to stagnation, to mediocrity. Just slap something on it when you see a blank canvas staring at you with a sort of imbecility." Vincent Van Gogh
I have been away from my blog for 21 days. Thinking, experimenting, and wondering about possibilities. If you know how to do it, it's already done. Art and creating beauty is about wonder and never being satisfied. What if I do this....?
This large pastel has so much experimentation on it already. After many other smaller trial pieces I was ready to try large. It's 30x40 on wood.
On another note..... I was sad when David Bowie died, he was amazing, like Picasso. He always remaking himself. Both men were unafraid to keep rethinking and adapting. Courage. No method or technique as so wonderful that it needed to be repeated without rethinking.

Wow, you are really into this! I'm going to have to call you the mad scientist except you're not mad. This is beautiful and so many layers. Amazing B. I'm glad I stopped by because I really needed your inspiration. I've been really dogging it. Kind of painting by the numbers just to say I'm painting.
I see you're going to be in Ann Arbor Michigan in April. You'll be 45 miles away and Mary and I will be in Paris. One of these days. Take care B and thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks Tania. I was in NYC the day after he died and there was a large memorial in place fr him already. A large framed photo and hundreds of bouquets of flowers. Seems like we are in good company. Paint on!

Hi PB,

Good to hear from you. I am glad you are painting...as long as you paint you will move forward. Don't give yourself and hard time about "painting by numbers" just paint for you. Lucky you...Paris! Sounds like fun, but I am sorry that I will miss you on my trip to Ann Arbor. I didn't know it was that close. I have never been there.
Now I have got to go dig a path to my studio. I received 30 inches of snow from that blizzard!
