Iridescence Through the Rain

On Saturday I went to my friend's memorial service. It was a rainy, quiet, very sad day. On the way home I stopped at a regional park I had never been to before. I walked through the woods and arrived at this beautiful space. For the last two days I have been trying to paint the emotions through that beautiful place. I have to stop now since I have filled the tooth on the board. I had topped the marble dust with iridescent gold and that filled the tooth a little too much.

Merry Christmas everyone! It's pouring rain in sunny California and the only place wide enough to place the car and see is right here at Interstate 15. Love these lace-like trees!

Winter Solstice Morning

Determined to find a place where the lead in to the mountains was a little longer and flatter, I drove farther this morning. I passed a sunrise rainbow and then found my spot. The clouds were coming towards me at a rapid pace so I needed to paint fast. I love the subtle blue/violet grays in this one.

Today's sunrise and blanket of clouds quickly turned into RAIN. So I took it to the studio determined to create the feeling of moisture filled air, pregnant with anticipation....thus the studio piece immediately afterwards.
Tomorrow I leave for San Diego, so probably I will not post. See you on the warm west coast for vistas of dry rolling land! Can't wait!

May 13, 2008 To the Toy Store

Rain, rain and more rain makes for nice reflections.
Tomorrow I leave for a painting retreat in Pennsylvania. I am sure there is no Internet simply because there is no electricity or running water in the cabins! Beautiful scenery though. Therefore this will be the last post until after I return on Saturday.

March 8, 2008 Rainy Day, Early Spring (Chevy Chase DC)

I am beginning to understand why artists like rain. The rain sort of pulls together all the colors in the same way that fog does. I really like this one. Ahhhhhh, it hit the feeling of the day square on. Spring is in the air.
I took down my show today. and parted with many friends (paintings) that will have new homes. At the end, I sold more than half of my paintings! (Thank you to all my generous buyers!) Now I am looking for my next place to show. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come by and see the show. I will let you know what is next. If you have an idea, let me know. Happy rain day!

I have always loved those rainy and snowy cityscapes of Childe Hassam. So today was the perfect day to challenge myself with the next cityscape, in a rain. This is Wheaton Plaza, right by Starbucks. Let it rain on so I can try more!
