Walk into the Woods

This is also from my buttercup/green series. It is my favorite so far. I must say I missed blogging when I was on a forced "vacation" but it made me realize that I spend way TOOOOOO much time on this computer. Time I would rather spend painting. Now that I am back I will be thinking about how i will deal with this...later. Back to work.

I always come by to see your great paintings but this one today is just breath taking.

I do wish that the images showed up in Google reader as I read very many blogs and therefore only link over very few days to your work and therefore may not spend enough time on each post.

But I do and still will link over.

I know about the reading time but for me there is so much great work on the web that gives inspiration and joy just to look that it actually motivates keep improving.

Loriann this is lovely! I can't wait to see it in person. What size is it? Is it for sale?

Okay, I can't believe I didn't notice that you were back (I guess because I was straying from the computer too). What happened to you while you were gone all that time?? This new group has turned a corner, somehow...what is different for you?

As an aside, you're one of a number of us lately that I've been hearing/reading of the plague of spending too much time here. I feel the same way, and torn: want to be connected, yet want to be painting too. Maybe we should institute periodic "outages" for our blogs???

Hope all is well.

Loriann, A computer crash can clear your head. You must know I like these last three a lot.

Hi Neils! I happy to hear that you stop by frequently. I will ask my computer wizard friend, Domi, to help get on Google reader. She's amazing. It's always good to learn a new trick.
You are right about the great work on the web that inspires...I guess it is about balance...hmmmmmm. what does everyone out there think?
Thanks for the compliment about my paintings. This one is my favorite too. I love fields.
I'll go check out your stuff now.

Cheers, Loriann

Hey Leah! So good to hear from you again! I think the size of it is 8x10 or 9x11...something like that. I have been using all my scraps of uart paper. I am not sure of its price yet. The gallery wanted many of my green series. There's a big reception next weekend and I will have 2 walls! YAY! I'll tell you more about it over tea.

Hi Karen! Good to hear from you again! I just arrived back on the scene this afternoon..boy time away does clear the head. I am thinking it would be a good art blogger discussion- the pros and cons of daily blogging and constant internet...gosh I even read a book while I was gone. I have always disliked any TV watching, but I wonder if internet/ computer use if really just the same in a way. TIME SPONGE
I would love to hear what others think. It is a catch 22 cuz I do really enjoy chatting with my blogger friends and wouldn't want to give it up. Periodic outages..hmmm good idea!
Oh I love your new painting...talk about turning a corner!!!!!

The consistency of you who paint, photograph, post and answer comments everyday has amazed me. I only attempt to get a new post up weekly. Except this week I'm sharing about a 2-day workshop that has taken a good portion of the last 2 to do so. I read a lot of art blogs. Though it is a great connection to other artists and a source of learning, I can see the need for occasional breaks.

Hi Loriann,
I like the last three paintings that you have posted. They have a nice transition from foreground to background. "Walk into the Woods" -that is the type of subject that I like to paint. I especially like the dark trees in the background. BTW- I also find myself spending too much time on the computer. If I may ask what was wrong with your machine?

Love your new series, Loriann. Missed you while you were gone, but I completely understand the whole downtime from computer thing - even though it was forced!

Oh my god, all 3 of these are incredible!!

P.S. I am feeling the same kind of torn between making-art time and internet time. I also don't watch TV at all, but I sure do spend too much time on the internet.

Loriann,
I think this is just lovely. So different in many ways from your water works. (which I enjoy as well.)
You mentioned a gallery show? Is it in the area? We'd love to stop by.

Let's pick a day and do a linked post about it...the time sponge problem!
I was just reading some really interesting articles (online of course about how the internet has changed the way we read and think).
A Book?!?! I have heard of them...

Hi Jill, I checked out your very informative share about Don's workshop. Sounds like you really took in a lot of information...and on Mothers day! How committed!
As far as blogging. I am just rethinking the whole piece and I am not sure where I will go. I do love the blogging community and enjoy seeing others' work. I'll let you know as I think it out. Thanks for your feedback!

Nj Art, Hi! as for computer problems, my mac laptop had developed two cracks at the front seam. It was under warranty so they fixed (and cleaned) the whole thing, no problem.
I too love painting fields and those transitional places (woods to field). How can I see some of your work?

Hi Janelle! Thank you for your wonderful words. And it sounds like my talk of "too much computer time" rang a bell with many. Something to think about. Hmmmmmm

Thanks Jala! Yes, the internet is like a siren on the rocks for me..calling ...calling. I guess my boat just crashed. I wonder if I need a new boat.

Hi Wendy and hi to Jake!
Yes, John Matthew Moore Gallery in Chevy Chase MD will have lots of my new work opening on Saturday May 30. Friday. Send me an email...I'll tell you more. My favorite diptych is included. It's rare for me to struggle to separate with a painting...but this is a first. It's a beauty.
