Edge of Green

about 6.5 x6.5 pastel and watercolor on Uart paper

The green/ no sky challenge continues. Different composition and light. I love the way light bounces around in water as it feeds off of all the influencing factors: the sky, the bottom of the water, the water color, the air color (humidity) and the surrounding land. (Did I forget anything?)
Painting in the summer makes me wish it was summer all the time:-)

Hi Loriann,
FYI:American Art Review for July/ August 2009 There is an ad for a show at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine arts {www. pafa.org} On exhibit through September 30 -Public Treasures/Private Visions-Hudson River School Masterworks from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Private Collections
The full color ad is on page 34. The cover has a Childe Hassam painting , {The White Church}, featured. This issue is very good so check it out. As always I enjoy your paintings -you seem to be going from transcription of facts to a sense of place-very much what Inness did in his journey as an artist.

Thanks so much for the heads up NJ! I will be sure to get there, probably in the beginning of August. I will also check out the AAR.
Thank you too for the enormous compliment...that is definitely my goal.
Cheers, Loriann
