Big Daddy through the Raindrops

12 x18 watercolor underpainting
It has rained for 3 days now and my patience is wearing thin. I couldn't stay in the studio one more minute, so even though it was raining I drove to the field. Due to the rain I didn't take out pastels (even with the umbrella), but using watercolor was fine. Maybe the drops of water even added to the atmosphere. Pastels tomorrow.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet, awesome, incredible and I wish I had done it. I don't know why you even bother with pastels. You da Man ... I mean you da Buddette.

Exciting stuff.
Your painting Buddy

Well this is lovely. Pray for more rain I say.

This is going to take much pastel to call finished. Love the effect of the raindrops. As Richard might say "less product" is a viable goal.

I really meant to say this "isn't" going to take much pastel. Fingers are going faster than my brain.

You've captured the gesture of the earth already. Won't take much now. Beautiful!

I love it. We've been out painting for the past 3 days in the rain too, so I hear you!

Thanks Buddy! You do it everyday. Pastels for this one are the icing on the cake.....check out tomorrow post. i returned to the scene later in the day.

Hi Bill and Lisa,
You are right rain is quite lovely to paint. Subtle colors.

Hi Marianne, Even without the retake I knew what you meant. Less product.

Hi Brian! Thank you. Check out tomorrow's and you'll see you are right. Hardly anything else was necessary.

Hi Karen, I knew you would be out there too and it's even colder in Chicago! Plein air only gets better from here on when the green leaves us! thank you!
