tangerine sky

Pastel on watercolor, watercolor underpainting below

The air was cold and the water was slightly warmish....thus the beautiful fog. The tangerine sky set nicely off of the blueish fog. I must admit I just enjoyed myself with this one. Just painting for the pure joy of painting.

Your joy is evident! I enjoy just looking
at it. Love the play between the tangerine
and the powdery blue. Wow!

Your painting Buddy.

a wonderful pastel edit of a gorgeous watercolor! either one works for me, though I must say the punch of pastel really makes it sing.

Hi Sam and the dogs,
Thanks.. sometimes the watercolor/pastel works as a nice push/ pull...and it works best when I cover less of the watercolor.
Happy painting!

Hi Astrid, THANKS!

Yummy colors. almost sherbet. The pastel is just enough to add some interest. I am going to be bold and say that I would like the background mass to be not as domey (is that a word?). But heck, it's beautiful.

Hi Marianne! I see your point about the domed mass in the distance. Thanks for pointing it out. It sure is funny how when I paint I focus on many things but the thing that is obvious...the elephant in the room... can slip unnoticed. Does that ever happen to you?

Oh my goodness, Loriann, all the time. I am always amazed when I let a painting "cook" in the studio overnight and revisit it the next day with fresh eyes. It scares me sometimes what I see!
