illumination

11x13 pastel and watercolor on Uart
As I clean the studio I find abandoned "starts." I decided this one had potential. It's rather freeing to go into a painting with no preconceptions or reference, especially when the painting was begun long ago. First you need to make an idea so that you know where you are heading.
Illumination was the idea.

And illumination it says. I don't know if this was morning or evenig, but it looks to me like the glow of early morning with the sun rising and just turning from its earlier golden glow to the intense yellow of day.

Hi Don,
Thanks and you are correct. It is morning.

Hi Sam.... you know me always going for the glow!

Your idea comes through strongly here, Loriann - beautiful handling of color to suggest illumination.
