true love returns

about 7x7 pastel/watercolor on wallis
I returned to the river and added the pastel to the watercolor. Now I know why I missed sanded paper! I love the effect of watercolor and pastel. What was I thinking all this time???????

Good Morning B,

Interesting, you've come full circle now.
As you've said to me many time's ... it's part of the process and now you've opened another door. To find the truth and search is needed. It would appear your search is over for now. I know you'll keep searching.
The cool part about all of this is you didn't get lost.

It's great to see your beautiful watercolor pastel paintings again. Have a great day.

THANKS PB! It's funny I am back to where I began but with a whole different understanding. Thanks for all your encouragement.

You were taking a necessary detour to make sure there wasn't something you liked better.
This is gorgeous!! Impressionistic light...and for some reason I love that rose-colored foliage on the far right.

Hi Jala,
I think the detour made me examine my methods. Now, even though I am back to watercolor underpaintings, I approach it differently and much slower. It has also affected my oil layering. All good stuff, albeit hard to learn:-) But then again, I know you know about hard and detours.
