no sky, say more with less and o'keefe

about 7x8 pastel and watercolor on Uart

The goal in this one was to do less and say more. You can still see at least 50% of the watercolor. Another from the no sky series, this one has mountain behind the foggy trees. Very light whispers of pastel, very much like the touch of the foggy atmosphere.
A quote from Georgia O'Keefe: "I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way- things I had no words for."

On another note, my camera DIED! Now I have no camera and very little money to buy another one decent camera. Yipes!  It was a Canon and my google reading now tells me that it is common at its age (3 years) to get the lens stuck.
That brings a special event for you! On June 18th at 5:00 pm I will post a number of my small paintings for sale. Rather than pay for framing and wait for the gallery to sell them I am taking charge. Stay tuned friends!

Loriann, Sorry about the camera. The pastel/watercolor is quite nice. Presumably shot before the camera mishap. I hope I can afford to help fund your new camera.

I love your work. Have you checked into ebay? If you look at Carol Marine's blog there is helpful advice about how she uses it. She seems to be quite successful using ebay.

My farmer family in-laws would figure out a way to fix the lens. Seriously, that may be an avenue for you.

I have been having some success taking my own photos with a decent point and shoot on a tripod in the studio, too. They all have more megapixels now (I guess that;s how it is described).

This is a singular and wonderful painting, Loriann. Fantastic. I have trouble with the particular design when I try it - you did it just so. I feel your rendering skill is superlative. I love the no sky series idea and paintings.

You know I'll try to buy to support your equipment habit, but mostly to support your gallery revolt. Nyuck, nyuck...

Btw, amazing "focal length" in this painting.

My canon had a problem at about 3 yrs old-different problem, though. but I called them and they said to send it to them and they would see what could be done-they fixed it and sent it back to me for free. You might see if they will stand by their product-they were very nice to deal withl
(Don't forget to check out Crow Planet!)

Add one to the favorites list.

This is just a beautiful little piece. A joy for the eyes to look at! Can't tell where the watercolor stops and the pastel begins. It's a very unusual piece for you, maybe it's the use of colors. If I didn't know it was yours it would still be great. Umm maybe it's the perspective or some of the granulation and texture.
I think you're on to a new vision for your paintings. Would love to have a house full like this. Is it for sale?
Maybe a down payment on a new camera?

Hi Bob!
Yep the painting photo was before the morning mishap. I have tried so many ways to fix the camera. It's dead.Check back next week to see what goodies I have in store for you.
Till then, loriann

Hi Kimberley,
I did a brief check into ebay and decide since this will not be my regular avenue for selling I won't do it. I will explain more about that in tomorrows post.K? Carol's blog is awesome and yes she has healthy sales!

Hi Casey,
I wish your farmers were here fixing my little beast! The research I did when i bought my other camera was to stop the distortion (fish warp) of my larger works. I am lucky that my friend Brian just lent me his extra camera today. Yay! The pressure is off for now...but the sale will go on cuz I can't keep it forever.

Sam, you always kill me! I hope you find something you like in my mini gallery! Thanks Sam about the focal length!

Hey Donna! Thank you I'll see you then..stay tuned I will be asking questions to help with choosing.

Hi R!
I will see if I can get it fixed, but since it is way past its warranty it doesn't look good. All the reading I did on line indicated that they would insist that I dropped it..which I don't ever remember doing. I'll give them a call though. What's crow planet?

Yep this will be for sale! Your wish is my command!

Crows Planet is the book I suggested you read about a week ago-I still suggest you find it,it was great:-but, it had nothing to do with canon cameras -
my camera was past the warranty and the people in the camera store where I bought it were quite negative about my having any luck with canon, however the company was very nice and my camera was fixed.Never hurts to try

Beautiful painting and I love being able to see the watercolour in places. Again the colours really make the painting come to life.
