I've been looking and looking and I think the second one reads better than the first one. just MHO:)

I like the one on the right side. The receding landscape reads better than the other. The simplicity of shapes is lovely to look at and the light quality you've captured is gorgeous. I can envision the diva standing right in the spot light.
The other painting is also beautiful with great colors and perspective. It just seems like there is a lot of activity with shadows and tree shapes which for me are a little distracting.
OK, I think I've covered every thing. Which ever you choose will be an award winner. Have a nice Sunday and burger night.

I like the one on the left side best. I really like the way the light falls in patches on the road. I feel like I am there. Paul
How can I choose? They are both so beautiful but if I had to choose and it could be the only painting I could ever have it would be the one on the left. Surely that is the road to heaven.

The one on the right is my vote however the one one the left has great possibilities but not there yet

They are both have great light qualities. I prefer the one on the left for the movement through the painting; the winding road with the light coming through is delightful. The other one has a fabulous dramatic light, yet the top portion of the painting lacks interest.
Hope this is helpful.
my intuition goes to the one on the left
I have no idea which one would be better for a show because they're both outstanding. My preference leans slightly toward the one on the right because I just love that shaft of light coming through and the effect it has on the grass and tree. It's a simple, quiet composition and you have the colors orchestrated to perfection. Whichever you choose, good luck!!!
Hi Loriann! I think the one on the left has more compositional interest because mainly the road makes your eye travel through the painting. Your eye has lots to do in the painting and travels evenly throughout it.

They're both beautiful yet different. I'm drawn to the painting on the right. I loved the story in your last post!
The one on the left keeps the eye moving and the strokes seem more energised to me. Also the stronger tonal contrast gets my vote. Good luck in the show.

It's amazing to me how different we think. Right now the one on the left is winning. I have received a couple of emails as well. Jim (he will also be in the show) pointed out that looking like a recognizable place in Kensington is a good thing for this entry. Oh dear. I have both frames. One will go in.

Hi anonymous.....I am confused, which fork? Or is that just lunch i am tasting?
Both are great and have their unique feelings. Since this is going for a show so I guess its juried I would select the one on the left as it has stronger compositional elements strong S curve, hif contrast focal point on the thirds line and a real sense of mystery around the bend. Sometimes the judges focus on these things.
