6x9 pastel on somerset
This is another pastel that when it left the location was not working. Back in the studio with no interference from "the scene" it was easy to see its speckled nature. The first thing I did was unify it with the color of the light. Keeping in mind what would be cool and what would be warm I simply listened to the painting. Long ago someone gave me some pastel pencils, something I have never used. I took them out for this and found them to be helpful. I used them as I would a brush moving and joining colors.
Sorry, I forgot to take a photo of the pastel before I began work in the studio, but instead, here are the fluffernuttins.

I like both of these - the kittens so playful and the river scene so idyllic!
It would be interesting to see the before picture. I use pastel pencils all the time for figure studies.
Those kittens look like a couple of curious kids, congrats on the lovely addition to the family!
oh, I like that you work at the scene and then work at the studio without "interference" from the location. That is truly interesting..and what a good result. The fluffernuttins are too cute! I want them!
Hi Helen, The kittens are adorable and so much fun...can't say the same for the painting.
Hi Nika, yes I wish i had remembered to photograph the "before." The kittens say hi!
Hi Celeste, so you know about that interference, eh?
The fluffernuttins light up my life right now....what little personalities!
There's my little fluffinmuffins! So cute. Are they girls or boys, and have they told you yet what their names are?
Nice painting experiments recently.
Hi Jala, there they are.. I guess you are their honorary auntie. Both are girls- so far Lucianna (pronounced with the Italian ch) and Baby... maybe Sydney is her real name, but I just can't stop calling her Baby.
How are your cuties?
