let motion equal emotion

7:10 am

6:36am
I once read this quote by Elbert Hubbard on the Painter's Keys website. The other day I found the piece of paper on which it was written. Hmmmmmm, that is perfect; a new quote for the studio door.
Here are the two studies of this morning's pre-snow early morning.

I'd love to be able to keep the feeling of the 7:10 painting throughout my day. It's interesting how you put more strokes(energy)into your paintings as the brilliant sun makes its appearance. Those strokes might seem a bit too rowdy in the earlier painting. Thanks for the lesson!

Great observation Donna! Thanks for your comment! By the way, did your house contract go through?

Just catching up on your posts. Interesting..I just completed a nocturne. I used one by Clyde Aspevig as the influence, ie changing my colors a bit to end up like his. But, now the values aren't as close, so not sure how I feel about it. May post it later. And yes. Once you start looking there are so many great ones out there! Including yours!

Nope, the contract was a dud. We are showing the house on Sat. so lots of cleaning and de-cluttering to do. I sure miss my studio and my pastels. I wish the buying public could appreciate a studio more than a dining room!

Beautiful studies, Loriann - I love the subtle sky colors of the top one.

Hi Pam! Which color harmonies did you use when you used Clyde's work as an inspiration? I know his work, but not his nocturnes. You are so right, there are beautiful nocturnes out there, although I wouldn't place mine in that category, yet. Thanks for the kind words.

Donna, i am sorry to hear about the contract...good luck on the next one.

Hi Brian, that's my favorite of the two as well. Each was just a moment in time. Color changes so fast then, even more so this morning. Thanks for stopping by!

These are beautiful Loriann each has it's own energy and mood. I love the second one because it has a powerful almost unsettling energy in that bright light and the way the dark marshland shrubs move up towards the light in the darkness that is moving more into day. Abstracts again very interesting how at this time of year your work is taking on a different feel and look. Strong work, well done.

WOW!thanks so much Caroline! It is so much easier to have energy evident in smaller works. I continue to try with the larger works!

These are wonderful. And the top one reminds me of an Astrid.
