9x9 pastel and watercolor on wallis |
Lately I haven't been sleeping that well so I am out and about early. It's great for getting work done and exploring nocturnes. After yesterday's beautiful small snow the landscape has changed completely. City lights make the moist particles in the air glow with color..this morning it was dusty pink before sunrise. My chant was- close values, limited color.
If you haven't seen
Sam's post yet you must. I laughed until I cried.

I'm sorry to hear you're not sleeping so well. If only my sleeplessness was so productive!
Hey Leah!
It does up the productive hours, you're right! And don't you think the colors are the best then as well? Hope you get a lot of sleep and a lot of play on your vacation!
Your chant worked. It has the feeling of early in the day. Love the pink sky!! And that light from the house, somehow it's just so cheery and hopeful. Smells like coffee!
I find it interesting that it's the lit window that makes the nocturne happen. Without it, it's a later hour on a pink day. For sure, every color and value you chose made it work.
Thanks Kvan...it can be so hard...I really am a color dipper. I was delighted that the light was on..it makes it more inviting. Now I understand why Thomas Kinkade can't stay away from the lighted window.
Interesting Sam.Without the window you wouldn't know the time. hmmmm.
Beautiful, beautiful work. I love it.
Thank you Gregory!!
