twilight, limited palette

7x9 watercolor and pastel on Uart
Mornings are freezing cold now, but still outside is the place to be. This painting was done with a very limited palette: 4 tubes of watercolor, 4 pastels. I am trying to friend more and more neutrals and "less"while still creating a quiet excitement.
Back to the studio:-)

I give you a lot of credit for going out in the cold to paint, Loriann. I wonder if the colder it gets and the faster you paint if your work will take on more of an abstract look?

Definitely, cold makes me only want to be out for a short time. Therefore the essence is all I want to achieve. Detail is frozen. My husband looked at this painting and said, "Is this the underpainting?" "No..this is the whole tamale."

Proof again, junkie. Killer yellow.
Very Wolf Kahnish, tho I don't see him out in the cold.

Thanks Anita!!!! So little is there yet it reads to me. Thanks for your comment!

Hi Sam...yep, proof again. Guilty as charged. Wolf Kahn, eh? Stuff like this just rolls off me. Maybe I shouldn't fight it as much.

You really have captured the cold feel of an icy wintery day Loriann. The abstraction works perfectly. Strong work!
