Best Halley easel (great for pastel and oil-forward and backward lean) |
artist's air easel attachment air purifier |
Total decadence- I bought a new easel.
After talking with Paul, I did all of my purchasing in the matter of 30 minutes. I wanted to do it right away, have a clean, healthy studio to go back to. I knew exactly what I wanted as I had been planning this for a long time. Wednesday, when I was talking on the phone to Jack at Madison Art, the transformers were blowing outside. A very wet snow had been coming down at the rate of 2 inches an hour and the trees limbs had become too heavy. Minutes after we lost our power for the last 30 hours. I have been hunkering in the bedroom, all 5 cats on the bed, trying to stay warm and well. The power just turned on again. Life is good and the air purifier is on the way.

I'm glad your power is back on, Loriann. We sure did get some heavy snow. That easel looks awesome - and it has room for your feet if you stand up close. I'm sure you will love it!
That looks wonderful. I thought you might wind up with an artist's air purifier, too.
Blowing transformers! Yikes!! I had that experience 2 winters ago.
Stay warm and well. You have much art to do.
Hi Loriann, I'm glad to hear you've gotten your power back - how miserable! And now you have that phenomenal new setup on the way - that's really exciting. Looks like you'll be working happily soon in safe comfort. It sounds like a great investment to use your recent earnings for. Looking forward to seeing photos! Congratulations, too, on selling the painting.
Hi Donna,
I am excited about my new safe set up. It's good to know my lungs won't be compromised and I can still paint both in pastel and oil!
Hi Casey, I think it is best.I don't want to mess with my health. The transformer show was really wild.
Hi Brian,
Thanks about the painting. I a excited about the next set-up. I'll post a photo and tell you all about it.
Yay, a well-deserved studio equipment, congratulations!!! Remember what Wolf Kahn said, you need this all stuff to work, it's not a luxury!
Congrats on selling your painting and having your power back on.
Stay warm!
I meant to say "all this stuff", not the other way.
Congrats on the big sale and new setup. Looks awesome. That was a crazy storm. We only got about 5 inches in Harrisburg. 10 miles away there was a foot. Of snow I mean
Don't you just love it when you get new studio goodies? Like a new best friend! You made the right choice to put the money into YOU...and not the mortgage. You deserve it! Happy painting!
Enjoy your new equipment. Let us know how you like the air purifier. Stay warm!
Love this new painting Loriann. Lucky you with a new easel. I so desperately need one here in the UK. Glad your power is back on.
i love a woman who knows what her priorities are! congratulations on being able to hear you!
my best,
Thanks Nika, I guess I finally realized that it's not a luxury. thanks for reinforcing that. Thanks too for the congrats!
Hi Brian, I can't wait for the new set-up to come in! Did you get to paint outside in your outdoor moving studio?Did you lose your power as well? Our power still 4 days later keeps going on and off for hours!
Hi Brenda,
Thanks for your help the other day! Thanks it's nice to know others feel I made the right choice, not just being selfish. I can't wait to get it!
Hi Barbara, I will post all about my new set-up when I get it.
Hi Lynne,Isn't it funny how we put off things like easels even though we use them everyday? Is it the orange delight painting you like?
Hi barbara h,
Thanks!!! Can't wait for my new goodies.
Heh, I know about the 5-cat bed warmer. Got a 5-cat warmer of my own. :)
I'm jealous of your new easel! I'm working on an old cheap easel and I too have to do a lot of painting-catching.
Although my easel is only about 8 years old, there are pieces that have been lost with all of my moves during that time and there are pieces that are wiggly and I too keep having paintings fall on my head! I think you made two wise choices. I have had my eye on that easel that you got. It looks perfect! and the Artists Air is not a luxury for someone like you! I hope to be able to get one someday. Right now I use a hepa air cleaner, and will start using a mask that is supposed to work great(totobobo) Paula Ford sells them and swears by them. Maggie Price has an Artists Air and she loves it! I think it will really help you with both pastel and oils. Good for you for putting your health first! I have asthma and it gets bad if I ever get a respiratory infection(which unfortunately I have right now. I will be using disposable masks as I paint until I get the Totobobo one. I have a friend that paints with me and she paints flat. Lots of dust. I think I am going to have to tell her that she will need to use an easel with a dust catcher. for both of our health's sake! Hard to make people change old habits.
Take care Loriann! I read your posts everyday. I really look forward to getting them in my email. I don't often comment but i'm thinking abut you!
Hi Jala, Funny how we deny ourselves the proper tools. 5 cats bed warmers are the best! You actually have additional members, eh?
Hi Sara,
Why do we do this??? Deny ourselves proper tools? I will report back about the easel and purifier, maybe you too will purchase one. I suggestion don't wait till it gets bad, your heath is first. Asthma is not a thing to fool around with. feel free to email me and I will give you my phone number. We can talk.
Thank you so much for your support and for reading each day.
I too would love an easel review after you've gotten to know it.
Cats: yep, we have 5: Miss Lemon, Rumi, Gadjo and Lynx are the ones everyone knows from my photos. Cleo is my almost-wild black girl who isn't around much.
