sandpaper and me

6x6 oil on panel

This one has been through a lot already. As I try to find my way with it Paul comes in the studio and says, "That's nice, what is it?" Well that's when the sandpaper came out and met the wet freshly glazed panel.

Egad! So please don't ask me what it is. It may be done (for now) or it may be abandoned. One thing I can say is- I do like sandpaper.

The Tryon seascapes continue to inspire me. It's just now they have mixed with the peregrine moon.
For a treat visit the Tryon slide show from the Freer.

Nice waves!
What goes where the sandpaper was applied?
Any thoughts?

What is a peregrine moon?
Umm, lots of questions today. By the way,
the waterfall failed! I'm packing it in for now.

Hi PB,
Good to hear from you!
What goes where the sandpaper was applied you ask. So far I wiped away the little balls of oil and alkyd and then layered lightly a golden orange.I will look tomorrow and think, abandon or what next.
As for the peregrine moon, that's another name for the super moon we saw last Saturday.
Question for you, will you try the waterfall again?

Probably when I get home to a real studio.
Still puzzled about the moon.

Glad to know about Tryon, who is new to me. I see where you're going, and the trip will be sublime. I hope you do more.

Isn't it funny how one comment from a loved one can have that effect on us? Worse is no comment, just the stare with the tipping of the head. I like this just as it is, Loriann. Maybe it doesn't have to be what you intended to be successful. You're very welcome for the paper, btw!

I like this one very much. I like the colours and the gentle quality of it all. The sea, sky and moon! How could you go wrong?

Hi PB,
Did you see that moon last Saturday? It was closer to the Earth than it has been since 1993 and will be for a very long time. At some points in the horizon it was huge. It changed colors in the sky. It was amazing. Goggle peregrine moon images and you will see, k? Hope that explains it better.

Hi Casey, I will try to do more. Tryon simply amazes me. I visit his work downtown in the Freer frequently. Glad you enjoyed the introduction.

Hi Brenda, No, the sandpaper was the real tamale- coarse. It took off a lot of paint!
I actually use sandpaper a lot to remove passages I think need thinning.

Hi Donna,
I will try the paper this week. You are wonderful for sending it to me. Yes, sometimes it is best to keep those extra, unneeded comments out of the studio. heh.

Hi Bicocacolors!
Thanks for visiting my blog and thanks for your kind words!

Hey Leah,
I think you have a slight bias. These are you favorite 3 subjects. I may continue with it after all...we just need a little "break."
