field study and Pollock

9x9 pastel
Every good painter paints what he (she) is.
Jackson Pollock

Realizing who that is and accepting it is the challenge.

What a wonderful painting and wonderful words. I am always amazed at what artists call "studies".

I was wondering what to write about today. Jackson Pollack reminded me that I already know the answer.

Hi Karla, I don't think we have met. Welcome to my blog. Hmmmmm, studies, they are just little ideas waiting to grow. Thanks for dropping by!

Hi Liz,
Glad Jackson could help out. Wise words come in many forms.

I love the simplicity of this! You can always see through to the essentials Loriann; what a gift!

Hi Loriann, Sometimes the little field sketches are so powerful that they are great - no need to grow! I love the sketch, the bright sky and warm colors -- just what I needed to lift my spirits.
Thanks!
Lenka

Gorgeous landscape! The colours really draw you in. That quote is so true, especially when an artist is trying to determine their style and what they want to do.

Thank you Lenka, I appreciate your kind words. Thanks for noticing.

Hi Celeste,
Paths are amazing lead ins to a painting. Thanks for your comment. Paint on!

Hi Vanessa,
It's sort of funny...everyone else knows your "style" yet you as the artist doesn't even feel like you have one...you just paint. hmmmmmmmm. Thanks for your comment and thank you about my landscape.

Hi Casey...leave it to you to wrap it up in a funny statement. Thank you. It means a lot coming from you my friend.
