river and field

oil on wood, 18x36
I finally finished this painting just in time to be framed for the show. Egad. I thought it would never be done.  It's full of some of the most beautiful neutrals, although it may be hard to see in the jpeg.
9x9 pastel
Here's more work with memory. I walk through this field every morning an the spring warm greens have changed everything.
I am really nuts trying to get everything done in time since it hangs on Saturday. The reception is Friday April 13th. Come and join the celebration!

Well a busy time for you, but how exciting! Best wishes for a fabulous opening and successful exhibition. That's one room of coloured light I wish I could walk into.

Those dashes of pretty pale blue really bring this painting to life. I can see quite a lot of work has gone into this one and it is packed with atmosphere. The morning study is lovely, very peaceful too, your work is very much about the serene beauty of nature as weather moves in. Good luck for the show.

Thanks for the well wishes Lisa!

Hi Caroline and thank you! This is one I labored on for more than a year and many times I thought I was just going to scrape the entire thing off. Thanks for the luck!

Love the neutrals in the top painting! Best with the show, too!

Sorry we missed each other when I was in your part of the country! Next time, I'll make sure we meet! Are you planning a Washington state trip this summer?

Best wishes. I am really digging your sun in more than one painting that you've done!

Crazy busy, eh? The good news is that your time is being very well spent.
I've noticed that, when photographing pastels, the some layers appear to come forward. It happens with mine, too. And... yup, I just checked both Casey's and Debora Stewart's... it seems to happen with theirs, too. I think it may be just the nature of the beast. Wherever pastel is applied without much blending, that layer appears to hover. It's not something my naked eye sees on a finished piece, so... I blame digital photography.
Does that make sense to you?

Never mind. Good luck with your show! (Just don't let anyone in with a digital camera/viewer.)

Hi Kvan,
Thank you for the wishes. As for Washington State, I hope to travel there again this summer. I will let you know if and when plans firm up. If I do, let's definitely meet!

Hi Casey and thank you!
For some reason the glowing sun is obsessing me! I paint them all the time. I just returned from painting out at the river and once again, because of clouds and moisture the bit of sun present was a glowing orb. Cool.

Hi Sam and thank you! Yes you are right sometimes there are different planes of pastel that are easily picked up in a photo. Look at Jala's pastels and see how she really makes it work for her. Thanks for the luck,I will need it.

Thank you so much Donna!

You don't need any luck. You have lots of that and talent too! What you need is to bring lots of red dots.
