So summer is finally here. All of my teaching commitments are done and I will be painting and traveling the summer long. I love June! Just savoring the knowledge of complete painting freedom makes me feel different. In celebration of the fact, the morning "pinkness" greeted me. Many people have asked to show the watercolor underpainting so here it is (below).

Last week I bought 2 more of my favorite sketchbooks and I am using them somewhat differently. As expected, my millions of sketchbooks are full of sketches and memory descriptions. This time I am using the sketchbook as a diary of sorts. Each days thoughts, paintings, photos in progress, memory descriptions, mixing charts, etc. will be included. It will be numbered by date. The thought behind my change is that I want to see patterns and understand the underlying threads that may help lead me to new places. Onward!

Pink and peaceful - love this one Loriann! It's very helpful to see how you used the underpainting to help create the reflections so thanks for sharing that!
I often think children know intuitively what they need to grow and learn. Maybe we adults do too, if only we give ourselves the freedom to follow our instincts. I will be thinking of you all summer--out there following your instincts. Cheers!
You are welcome Donna! Thank you about the painting.
Hi Liz,
You are right about children having an inner knowledge. We as adults try to shut it off with the "have-tos" of life. Adults get so easily confused...especially about choices. They forget they have them and make them all the time.
Enjoy the summer! Will you be around?
So . . . What is your favorite sketchbook? Please tell.
Wonderful light B.
Elegant underpainting.
Hi Candice!
My favorite sketchbook is Fusion by Cachet.
