Can you believe it? These new pastels made by Blue Earth Pastels are perfect! Organized by hue, value and intensity....you can't ask for anything else. Right color, right value- immediately.
I bought a few boxes. Dakota shipped them to me and they arrived on Monday. I was so excited! Perfect little stick-it's not too hard, not too soft.
If you are starting out with pastels- buy this one set and you are set. For we who continue to "collect" pastel after pastel, like toys...it's a great new toy. I wish I bought them all!
Dakota Pastels are the exclusive distributers. So order yours now. There is a special sale 10% off any order over $100. Each box is $63. At the end of the summer they will also be sold separately as well. Here is the link so you, too, can have them in your box.
Let me know if you try them, k?

Hi Loriann,
Long time... sorry.
Can you compare the texture/softness/hardness of these to other brands, most of which I'm pretty familiar with? Thanks, I'd love to know.
Hi Jala, I am delighted to hear from you again. As for texture/softness With Nupastel/creta color as hardest and schminke are softess these pastels ar close to terry ludwigs...softer than a girault or unison- harder than a schminke. Sometimes there is a little edge that needs to be worn down- the same kind of thing you find in a sennelier.
They are softer than my usual basics....but i like the way they thin down on a watercolor underpainting.
Does that wake sense?
Thanks, Loriann. It will be fun to try some someday. They sound like they might be similar to Great Americans?
And thanks for the lovely kitty thoughts today.
Hi Jala,
Yes, similar but different. Great Americans are softer in another way. The Blue Earths have no wrappers -a plus. They are embossed with their numbers.Example 23A, 23B and 23C- saturated color, tint and shade.
Hang in there. The kitties continue to bless you with so much love and they receive it endlessly in return.
