twilight no. 157 and no. 158

no. 158 6x6 pastel
no.157 6x6 pastel

My favorite field, done from memory. I keep struggling to get that unique vibration that is evening twilight. Lasting for about 4 minutes, it is elusive. These are just two (of many.) I switch papers and methods. I try different colors under and on top.

Upon returning from Sedona, I am settling back into my normal life- a balance between studio and plein air.

Those colours are so tricksy aren't they! One of the biggest challenges to capture. Both of these are beautiful.

Beautiful, wide-open skies and such emotional use of color. Your memory comes through again!

These remind me of Rothko. They are shimmery and particulate.

Thanks Lisa. You are right, it will always be the trickiest time of all....but don't we all love a good challenge!?

Thanks Donna. It's the only way I can do it.

Thanks Liz....Rothko is one of my heroes!
