plein air paint for yourself

I was looking through my sketchbooks and saw the reminder.
"Plein air-paint for yourself. Stop the agendas. It is all part of the journey."
The reason we go outside to paint is to be sensitive to real light falling on form. Enjoy the responding.

If your work shows that you enjoyed the response, the good things that follow will take care of themselves (somewhat). It's tough to get rid of the agenda, and not take it up again in some other way.

You are so right Bob. Getting rid of the agenda has been one of my goals and that is why I write such notes in my sketchbook. The agenda can be a dictator...and not always benevolent. Egad..it can be really hard!

That is one of the hardest things- to respond to the moment. I can suddenly realize that I am responding to a self imposed agenda rather then my instincts. Your work isso full of light!

Hi Beth, I don't think we have met till now. Those self-imposed agendas can serve a purpose...sometimes.....but outdoors i am there to absorb, Seems like we feel the same way. Enjoy your plein air time!
