26x32 pastel and oil on marble dust board
Yesterday the Maryland Pastel Society's Members show opened at the Ratner Museum. Upon entering the museum my jaw dropped. What beautiful work! I am honored to be part of it. I decided to stay around to hear the awards announcements. I think my heart stopped when Joe Fitzgerald (the judge) called MY name! First it was to receive the Connecticut Pastel Society Award. I wanted to gush, "I'm from Connecticut!", but I was too shy in front of all people I didn't know. Then when he announced the last award-" best of show" and he said my name I think my heart stopped. CPR please. Now back to the studio. (above is the painting that won!)
PS Thank you to all my new (and old)subscribers. I appreciate that you take time from your day to view my "vitamins."

Congratulations and confetti tossing!! What a fabulous tribute to all your work!
And I love the piece that won--the judges have good taste :-)
When I entered the Ratner Museum and glanced around the gallery, your painting, Hawksbill Peak jumped out. The large abstract shapes caught my eye and drew me right in. All of your paintings in the show were very beautiful. Congratulations on receiving both of your awards.

Thank you Nita, Lisa,Rose and Jala!!!! I really appreciate your support.
I am still walking on the clouds...but of course I came down to paint today.
WOW... Congratulations!!
A beautiful piece and a well-deserved honor.
No matter how much we all know that the art we do should be for ourselves alone... it is sooo gratifying when others recognize it as "theirs" as well!
Way to go!
FABULOUS and CONGRATS!!
The painting is stunning. I wish I could see it up close and personal :)
I can't tell you how thrilled I am for you!! You so deserve that, with your inspiring dedication to your painting. You can work from the clouds for a while. :)
Thank you Marian, Karen and my anonymous friend! I appreciate that you take the time to look at my blog AND feed me your wonderful words of support!
Happy painting,
Loriann
Hip Hip Hooray!! You so deserve all of this and more. I just wish I could have been there to jump up and down and do a happy dance with you. (I could have done CPR if necessary too.)
Thank Leah! I am so happy to hear from you...come and do the happy dance with me...anytime!
I found your site through Casey's Colorist blog, Loriann, and am looking forward to reading his interview with you. The accolades you've received for this painting are all very well-deserved. I keep going back for another look at it (always a great sign) and think the color and composition are gorgeous. And just as your anonymous friend commented, I too would love to see it up close!
Thanks Brian, for finding me and your glowing words! I checked out your website and enjoyed your beautiful figurative work.
I think we are in agreement...there's nothing like painting.
See you around-Loriann
