The light was consistent (overcast) today which allowed me to work bigger. The state of Maryland is putting in a new mega-road, sort of another beltway, called the inter-county connector. This is one of the beautiful fields that will be lost because of it. Sadness.

The greens and yellows really sing here, Loriann. This would make for a nice but sad series - beautiful land lost to development.

Hi Janelle and Brian, You are both so right. It seems essential to document this piece of land. I think I will go back out there over and over till they force me off the land:-( I fell I am just beginning to know it.

I can empathize with the future loss of the natural landscape. I have painted a number of scenes that have now disappeared. Some to human intervention others to Mother Nature. It always does my heart good to know I captured the moment.
I love seeing your sketch too. It's fascinating to me in that it's so elemental...hmmmm very very interesting.
I absolutely love this piece. I love how the yellow in front keeps me there for a minute before I travel back into the distance to the tree line, and then back out through the path of the flowers. really beautiful.

I feel like I put far too much pastel on this one. I will keep painting this scene to see if I can find its essence.
