lost fields, studio piece

Here is the studio piece again...I have been working with the edges they were simply too hard. I also gave it more distance. Now I am trying to add cool...somewhat neutral shadow in the tree mass...yet still keep it a mass. I also rounded out the main tree through the use of light. Close to done? hmmmmm After seeing it on the screen it becomes obvious that I need to quiet the sky.

It's evolving beautifully. Love the bluish/purple-ish color coming through the front tree.

Hi Loriann,

Love the colors in this version. You seem to handle them so easily. Always impressive.

Got home last night and have been doing household chores like mowing lawn etc. Planning on getting started tomorrow on Maine paintings. Um, which one first?

Take care Buddette.

Hey Loriann,
Question for you: I have heard of Spectra-Fix but Casey told me that it may not be a good idea for Sennelier LaCarte, which is what I use most, because he said the Spectra-Fix might be too "wet." Sennelier LaCarte gets ruined immediately with water. However, I love the idea of a fixative that isn't toxic and nasty. Basically, I can't deal with the nasty kind at all and I don't even try anymore. Any knowledge you can impart about the Spectra-Fix with LaCarte?
Thanks,
J

Jala,
I would agree with Casey. LaCarte, while being a wonderful surface, is easily damaged. I would suggest that you email Della(the creator of SF) and pose her the question. Personally, I love the stuff. I have always refused to use fixative prior to SF. Bear in mind that I never use it on the top layer, only on the many underlayers. I still want to keep the crystaline nature of the pastels.
