gauzy breath

8x10 oil on linen
This one started as a traditional grisaille. For reference I used only one small plein air painting that I did during the fall. After about 30 minutes I was already free of that and off creating the vision in my head. I am being very conscious of edges, so few are needed.
Recently Janelle posted one of my favorite Monet paintings, Branch on the Seine by Giverny. Just seeing that image again catapulted me into fog, glorious fog. Monet was the master of color and fog.

This is incredibly beautiful, Loriann - perfect title too! The change in color temperature from one side of the trees to the other is so well done. Did you see the sunrise this morning? It showcased 'your' colors!

Hi Donna!
Thank you about this painting. it's funny I needed to post this one today because I liked it. When I showed it to my husband all I got was the squishy nose look. Now I know not to depend on others' reactions to my work, bu this time I was sure it was a keeper. This painting did all I wanted it to do and more. I am glad it wasn't all in my head:-0
And yes I saw the sunrise...it was gorgeous. I did paint it maybe I will post it tomorrow. Do you just love sunrise?

Hey PB! Thank you.

Wow ... nice oils! I like "gauzy" but I love "sweeping"! Can hardly wait for tomorrow's "sunrise" ;)

Gauzy breath--rhymes with doggy breath, which we have too much of around this house.:)
This is gorgeous! I can't believe you're as good in oils as in pastels!

Hi Jala, Are you suggesting that I should have named it doggy breath? That would sure make it memorable. As for being as good with oils as pastels...you are too nice. I am just trying to figure out how to make my pastels and oils one...inseparable. Good luck, eh?
