color harmony and tranquility

12x12 pastel on BFK
Sunrise this morning had a little bit of rain. I was lucky that it stopped as I was walking out to my painting spot. Color harmony and tranquility were my goals. An array of subtle colors were presented by Mother Nature. I think I became a little too wrapped up (for me) in realism, but it has feeling.

It has wonderful feelings and I certainly see nothing wrong with a little realism. I think you're too hard on yourself B! As you might say to me ... ease up, enjoy the journey!

This should make you feel better ... I'm still here reading the paper and drinking coffee ... you've already completed a beautiful painting, posted it and moved on. I guess I should get moving too.

After reading about your experiments with paper surfaces, I bought several sheets of BFK to try it out for myself. It's sturdy stuff! And holds a remarkable amount of pastel, too. Thanks for the inspiration and for your comments on my blog. K.

Hi PB, Sounds like life is good fro you right now... reading the paper, drinking coffee, you must be feeling better!

Hi Katherine! I am happy to hear that you too like the BFK. It has such a soft surface, it just feels good to work on, don't you think?
