summertime when the livin' is easy

9x12 pastel and watercolor on marble dust board
One of my favorites in a long time...yay! and under pressure! When I visited Cumberland last week I saw this view. It was rainy that day but I could still imagine the possibilities. Yesterday morning I was delighted to see it filled my every dream!
Two songs played in my head as I painted.
"Summertime...when the living is easy, fish are jumping...." Do you know that one?
But then there was the intruder song... "Little bunny foo foo running through the forest, picks up the field mice and bops them on the head."
Which song helped me paint that we will never know. I must be slightly crazy.

A big thank you to all my blogger friends for all the encouraging comments yesterday. I feel like I have company when I am here! Back to work now... the sun has almost risen.

You have a beautiful enveloppe of atmosphere going in your paintings. And it's unique to your own Loriann style! Funny how songs can pop up in our heads. I think they're called ear worms.

Little Bunny Foo Foo? Slightly crazy???

Good news... You're on it! You're managing to be pretty objective, too. This is one is excellent. Especially the hovering distance.

Hi Donna, Yup I found out where little bunny foo foo lives. Thanks about my work. I was a bit frantic at first now I am slowing down a little.

Hi Janelle,
Ear worms, eh? Thank you about the envelope of atmosphere...that is my aim.

A wonderful volume in the trees and I like how you organized the space. I'm not even mentioning the color harmony because it is always great:)
I'll just have to say that it's very clever how the reddish purple in the trees plays against the light warm green in the middle of the grass. I'm sure you didn't spend much time thinking of that choice, it was intuitive. Good work!!!

Hi Nika, You are right it is all intuitive. I just think skeleton and clothes. Simple...my husband swears that I have an extra cone in my eyes.

Just catching up....
See I've always known it as "Little rabbit foo-foo...." But perhaps the fast pace of the song helped to jumpstart you. Levely piece!

Hey Jala! Which songs play in your head? Thanks about the painting.

Hi Tracy,
Little rabbit foo foo, eh? Does he still bop the field mice? What ever it takes, eh?
